Napa Valley
Wine Auction 2000
the 20th annual Napa Valley
Wine Auction raised a record-breaking $9.5 million.
..."Competition was stiff for dozens of other auction
offerings. For example, Adams (the same Adams that bought the 1999 Diamond
Creek offering) had to fight off a considerable throng to land Diamond
Creek Vineyards big bottle collection of tiny Lake Vineyard cabernet sauvignon.
Barely three-quarters of an acre, the Lake site produces exceptional fruit
that vintner Al Brounstein in exceptional years makes into a couple of
barrels --one that's sold off and another that's set aside for charity.
Sold for$120,000, this lot included a 9-liter bottle of the 1992 Lake
cab, plus
3-liter bottles from the 1994, 1996 and 1997 harvests.

Valley Register of June 8, 2000
