From "Diamonds in the Rough" in the Napa Valley Register August 25, 2011
Diamond Creek Vineyards celebrates the 10th anniversary of its Diamonds in the Rough benefit dinner to fight Parkinson's disease at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the location of the inaugural benefit — the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St. Helena.
This fall's benefit dinner will be prepared by the chefs of the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, and includes an evening of entertainment provided by world renowned pianist Daniel Pollack.
"This fundraiser is to benefit the Parkinson's Institute in Sunnyvale — to raise money for Parkinson's research so we can find the answers to this devastating disease," declared hostess and vintner Boots Brounstein.
"This is a night to relax and enjoy the fabulous food prepared the chefs of the Culinary Institute, paired with the wonderful wines of Diamond Creek ... complemented with outstanding entertainment by one of world's most acclaimed pianists, Daniel Pollack. And let's not forget the great company ... it will be an evening to remember in the Napa Valley."

10th Annual
DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH
Please save the date for the most special Diamonds in the Rough fundraising dinner thus far: Saturday, October 15, 2011.
It was ten years ago that we first got together to fight Parkinson's disease. We held it at the Culinary Institute of America's fabulous award-winning facility here in the Napa Valley. Many of you who were there still remember the fun and fine cuisine we shared. Well, we're going back, and for a very special reason.
My late husband, Al, who battled Parkinson's for two decades, has been inducted into the Napa Valley Vintner's Hall of Fame. He's among just 30 people who have received this honor.
The magnificent Barrel Room where we had our dinner ten years ago is now the site of the Vintner's Hall of Fame. So, while we eat and enjoy our evening, we'll be surrounded by special displays about all the inductees – including Al. There is a wonderful custom bronze relief of Al that's just been unveiled in the hall.
Our dinner will be specially prepared for us by the staff of the Culinary Institute. The late Craig Claiborne, the celebrated author and food critic of the New York Times, once said, "Almost every profession has an outstanding training ground. The military has West Point, music has Juilliard, and the culinary arts has The Institute."
After dinner there will be a special treat: Pianist Daniel Pollack. Please see enclosed information for more information about this internationally renowned pianist.
When we hold our Diamonds in the Rough events here at Diamond Creek, our small space forces us to limit the number of attendees to 48 people, at $2,500 each. Because the Barrel Room at the Culinary Institute is so much larger, we can accommodate many more of you and are pleased to offer invitations at $500 per person.
Please join us for this very special night. Our nine prior Diamonds in the Rough events have raised, in total, close to $2 million for research at the Parkinson's Institute in Sunnyvale, California. Your continuing generosity has been overwhelming. Your support again this year, as we join in honoring Al's legacy, touches me in ways for which I can find no words.
With warmest regards,
